Advent Devotion: Psalm 27

Psalm 27, by Tempest Brevard

I listened to Psalm 27 in two different versions: the Message and the NIV. What struck me in the Message version were the last lines; Stay with God! Don’t Quit. Again Stay with God! As I was listening the speaker was adamant about it and I thought to myself, no need to shout! But, I get it. Then I considered, where would I go? I have always believed that there is a GOD. Therefore, to me I have no other choice.

Then I listened to the NIV version and had a different feeling: The Lord is my light, my light and salvation. Yes, this explains more my understanding of the God that I trust, serve and Love. God saves and brings forth life; which I think of at light. What more could I need? In a time when there has been so much sadness, confusion and death. It is important to remember not to quit and continue to search for the light.

Prayer: Use this part of the Taize song and bible verse as a personal prayer and meditation.

The Lord is my light, my light and salvation

in God I trust, in God I trust.
