Advent Devotion: 1 Corinthians 13:4–7

1 Corinthians 13:4-7, by Patsie Libby

Having our church closed during the pandemic has been hard for all of us. We have respected the decision and realized the sacrifice was worth it for the greater good.  This is love and during these hard times love is what will get us through. I have zoom meetings for circle, our church knitting group, and Henry’s bible study and these meetings have meant a lot to me. This virtual time together has allowed us to connect and keep our deep friendships.

Another challenge during this time is my rotator cuff surgery. Friends have called with encouraging words, brought meals, and sent cards and flowers to show they care.  This love is church to me, to love God and one another.  These are the two greatest commandments. We need to trust God.

Without the hustle and bustle of the season, we will have more time to meditate on scripture and apply these lessons in our lives. We can enjoy our family, count our blessings, pray, and celebrate the birth of Jesus. This is our sign of life.
