Holy Saturday National Gallery of Art Fieldtrip
APR 19 | 10AM | NATIONAL GALLERY OF ART
Vincent Williams is offering a tour through the Passion narrative at the National Gallery of Art on Holy Saturday, April 19. We will look at paintings that depict the events of Christ's passion from the perspective of art from the Renaissance to the Modern period. The highlight of the tour will be our engagement with Matthias Grunewald's "Small Crucifixion." This is a perfect opportunity to set aside time to reflect on the Passion, and to be enriched by fellowship with fellow FPC members as we encounter art. Mother Emanuel Book Talk & Signing
JUN 13 | 7PM | FELLOWSHIP HALL
All are invited to a book talk at FPC on Friday, June 13, at 7:00 PM. Hear Kevin Sack, Pulitzer-prize-winning New York Times journalist and author of the new book Mother Emanuel: Two Centuries of Race, Resistance, and Forgiveness in One Charleston Church. "Dylan Roof’s callous murder of nine people during Bible study opens a window into the power of the Black Church in an historic city in the American South. Race, religion, and terror combine for an extraordinary story of America, the resilience of a people, and their capacity to forgive in order to live with unimaginable grief” (Eddie S. Glaude, Jr., author of Begin Again). Event is free of charge, but EventBrite tickets are required for planning purposes. Register using the QR code "Scan me!"
