Rebuilding Together

Rebuilding Together

National Rebuilding Day is the signature event of Rebuilding Together, the leading nonprofit organization working to preserve affordable home ownership. Every year on the last Saturday of April, volunteers with 166 Rebuilding Together affiliates repair and restore homes and non-profit facilities. They also bring national attention to the plight of America’s low-income homeowners and the communities in which they live. Each year, FPC staffs and sponsors a team to work on numerous projects with a local family. www.rebuildingtogether-aff.org FPC Program Leads: Mac Mercer, Sal Sparacino, Kevin Strickler

Refugee support opportunity

GIG (Gals in Guatemala) will be participating in a mission trip to McAllen, TX, in October, working with the Sacred Heart Respite Center, where 200+ refugees a day are being welcomed and serviced. If you sew, we invite you to make pillow covers with a zipper for 12 x 16 inch pillows for the refugees. We will take the pillow covers with us and will order the pillows and have them shipped to McAllen. If you don’t sew, but would like to help, gift cards from Joann’s Fabrics or Amazon, or cash donations would help cover the cost of the pillows. Please see/contact Carolyn Thalman (cjthalman@comcast.net) for more information and suggested instructions for making the pillows.
