Rebuilding Together

Rebuilding Together

National Rebuilding Day is the signature event of Rebuilding Together, the leading nonprofit organization working to preserve affordable home ownership. Every year on the last Saturday of April, volunteers with 166 Rebuilding Together affiliates repair and restore homes and non-profit facilities. They also bring national attention to the plight of America’s low-income homeowners and the communities in which they live. Each year, FPC staffs and sponsors a team to work on numerous projects with a local family. www.rebuildingtogether-aff.org FPC Program Leads: Mac Mercer, Sal Sparacino, Kevin Strickler

Sewing Group

For 19 years,  the FPC Sewing Group has been a fellowship and service small group that helps others in our church, community and internationally by using our sewing talents to aid special groups with unique needs.  Non-sewers contribute invaluable aid in pressing, cutting out, pinning, etc. We would love to have you join our group which generally meets on the first and third Mondays from 10 AM to 3 PM in the Multipurpose Room. We do easy projects suitable for beginners to learn to sew, such as tote bags, pillowcases and blankets! We have also added a 5th Monday this year for personal sewing, knitting, crocheting and crafts. All are invited to participate. Boulder Crest Retreat at Bluemont, Virginia: A newer outreach which provides, free of charge, a country setting retreat experience for seriously wounded warriors and their families to reconnect and recover. We have provided tote bags, blank banners for art therapy workshops, lap quilts, plus toiletry kits for female soldier retreats. See brochure on MPR bulletin board or go to website at www.bouldercrestretreat.org The Lullaby Project –We have been making blankets or small receiving blankets which are being used by The Lullaby Project and Brother to Brother Foundation to provide birthing kits to groups going on mission trips where they are needed. The birthing kits include baby caps, a receiving blanket, a blanket and medical supplies for a safer delivery.
