The Early Christian Church: From Paul to Augustine

The Early Christian Church: From Paul to Augustine

How did the Christian church grow from a few dozen followers of Jesus at the time of his death and resurrection to become the state religion of the Roman Empire just three hundred years later.  This seven-week course taught by David Bush beginning in January 2018 will cover the church’s origins as described in the book of Acts; and follow its development of structure, doctrine, and creeds over the next 350 years until just before the fall of Rome.  Part II, to be offered next year, will cover the History of the Western (Roman Catholic) Church during the Middle Ages.  The final segment the following year will cover the Renaissance, the Protestant Reformation, and the establishment of churches in America. The course is also being videotaped and will be available for later viewing here for those that miss a session: Jan 14: Paul and the Apostles Spread the Word Jan 21: The Roman Empire Jan 28: Christian Philosophy and Beliefs Feb 4: The Christian Underground Feb 11: The Final Persecution and the Diocletian Division Feb 18: Constantine and The Church Imperial Feb 25: The Saints: Augustine, and Jerome and Benedict

By giving to the Christmas Joy Offering, you honor this gift by providing assistance to current and retired church workers in their time of need and developing our future leaders at Presbyterian-related racial ethnic schools and colleges.

Angel Tree Gift Giving

Angel Tree Gift Giving

Angel Tree®, a program of Prison Fellowship, reaches out to the children of prisoners and their families with the love of Christ. FPC is participating in the Christmas gift giving program for 33 children this year. Look for the tree in the Narthex and “adopt” a child or family this Christmas; wrapped gifts are due back by December 17 so that they can be delivered in time for Christmas. See Gita Pippin with questions.
